Shears, Kathleen Henry. "Increasing Contraception Reduces Abortion." FHI-Network Vol. 21 No. 4 2002: 28-33. SIRS Researcher. Web. 13 April 2010.
Through various studies and experiments, researchers found that increasing contraception declines the abortion rate. Though this conception may seem obvious, it is difficult to prove. One convincing study occured in Hungary. A graph depicted women ages 15-44 that used contraception had less abortions. This is key especially in countries where abortions are unsafe. Unsafe abortion claims the lives of almost 80,000 women every year. Life-threatening complications occur in about a third of women undergoing an unsafe abortion. Although increasing contraception does not fully cure the problem of abortion, it definitly helps. I think effective contraception is a great idea that can help save lives.

Article Nine: Protect the Unborn
Source Citation
Martin, Darla S. "Protect the Unborn." SIRS. USA Today, 22 Jan. 2008. Web. 13 Apr. 2010.
This article opened my eyes to the real world. The number of abortions in USA around 1990 was 1.6 million. Fortunately, since then, the number has plungedto 1.2 million. According to the article, a solution to this amplifying problem is birth control. Birth control can prevent abortion, but the problem with this is that few women want to use it. It is easier and more fun to not use the pill. Also, women may forget to take the pill, especialy if they are under the influence. I think birth control helps solve the problem, but does not completely prevent abortion.

McLachlan, Hugh G. "Bodies, Rights and Abortion." JSTOR. BMJ Publishing Group, June 1997. Web. 13 Apr. 2010.
It is still a dabatable topic today. Do women have control over their own bodies? Are women qualified to choose what is best for their baby? It is argued if women are entiltled to have abortions based on moral and legal obligations. The asserion that women own their body is vague. I understand that we cannot force women to not have abortions. However, we can and need to help society understand the facts pertaining to abortions. Abortions may never be outlawed, but the rights of the child need to be taken into account.

Article Seven: The Moral Significance of Spontaneous Abortion

Murphy, Timothy F. "The Moral Significance of Spontaneous Abortion." JSTOR. BMJ Publishing Group, June 1985. Web. 13 Apr. 2010.
This article elaborates on the moral signifigance of the two views on abortion. According to Timothy Murrphy, department of Philosophy Boston University, Bostion USA, pro-abortionists show little moral relevance, while Anti-abortionists show moral character. It takes virtue to raise a child despite the circumstances. Researchers insist that the mean incidence of spontaneous abortions for all known pregnancies is 15 percent. This shows it is not uncommon to have a spontaneous abortion. Timothy Murphy shows great courage to say it. It takes virtue to raise a child.

Source Citation
Hall, Elaine J., and Kathy S. Stolley. "A Historical Analysis of the Presentation of Abortion and Adoption in Marriage and Family Textbooks." JSTOR. National Council on Family Relations, 1997. Web. 12 Apr. 2010.
Throughout the writing, the two authors Hall and Stolley focus on the family as a unit. Abortion breaks the unit. When a couple first learns that a child is coming, a decision has to be made. The chioces include parenting or reliquishing the child. When parents push the abort button, they can have an abortion or send the child to an adoption agency. In order to prevent abortion, steps must be taken to add more adoption agencies to care for these abandon chilodren. We need more agencies with more loving staff who really care about the children. Also, more honorable foster parents need to dedicate themselves or at least consider adopting. Some pregnancies happen spontaniously and at the time, the couple may not be ready to have a child. Later in life though, they may become ready to parent. Thematic analysis dipicts social influences a factor when considering abortion. Society today is not helping. It is fairly easy to have an abortion. In order to prevent abortion, adoption agencies need to be the easier chioce. More adoption centers with caring workers to provide a stable home for children would decrease the abortion rate.

Article Four: Abortion is wrong

"Abortion Is Wrong Article." Christian Free Bible Loans Dating Debt Penpals Advertising at ChristiaNet.com. The Worldwide Christian Marketplace, 24 Mar. 2010. Web. 13 Apr.
The pro-life suppporters strongly discourage abortions. It is considered murder. If murder is illegal than shouldn't abortion be illegal? However, the other side argues that the mother has control over her body. The debate to the ongoing issue is how to prevent abortion without forcing it as an edict. The solution is complex because both sides will never be fully satisfied. Also, some people claim that rape is a reason to keep abortion legal. If this occures, the mother may not expect a new born baby. If the father leaves, then the mother will be stranded with a child to take care for. The poverty rates for single mothers are overwhelming. Regaurdless, killing a child is wrong.

Article three: Is Abortion Murder?
Source Citation
"Is Abortion Murder?" World Overpopulation Awareness (population). WOA, 24 Mar. 2010. Web. 12 Apr. 2010.
The article takes a pro chioce view towards abortion. It states that women have rights over their own body. The question disputed is when does a fetus become a person? It is not quite clear at which stage this occurs. Pro-choice activists proclaim that personhood slowly develops, instead of occuring all at one time. The reasoning behind this is that a fetus cannot act as a distinct individual. It is incapable of thinking, talking, and functioning as an individual would. As debate continues as to when the fetus becomes a person, it is not fair to the child to not give it a chance. Abortion never gives the child a chance to live. Who knoes what this child may accomplish and contribute to society. Everyone deserves a chance at life.

I was influenced remarkably by this story of a single mother desperatley struggling to provide for her child. When her world was turned upside down by an unbenonced preganacy, she turned to a christian adoption agency. She was dismissed and denied access to the agency for private reasons.
I was upset apon hearing this story. The adoption agency would not care for the child. This is wrong. Adoption agencies need to change their motives. They need to look into their hearts and realize that this single mother has run out of options. She has no place to turn for the security and support needed to raise a child. Adoption centers cannot turn away desperate people, instead welcome them.

This article was persuasive in that preventing abortions across the United States is possible. The main argument was to increase more convienient contraception. If birth control and other various drugs were more easily accesable, the abortion rate would skyrocket downward. Many couples want to have safe sex, but have little time or patience to spend persueing contraception. Therefore, increasing access of contraception would ultimantely decrease abortion.
